The top row contains the product of
x^(2) with each term of the expressions
x^(6)+ x^(4)+ x^(2) and bottom row contains the product of -1 with each term of expression
x^(6)+ x^(4)+ x^(2) .

The final result will be the sum of terms of both rows as shown below:

( x^(6)+ x^(4) + x^(2) )( x^(2) -1) \\ \\ = x^(2) ( x^(6)+ x^(4) + x^(2) )-1( x^(6)+ x^(4) + x^(2) ) \\ \\ = x^(8)+ x^(6)+ x^(4)- x^(6)- x^(4)- x^(2) \\ \\ = x^(8)- x^(2)

So the correct answer is option D
