Explanation:

9 + 1 = 182 ?????

they must be some mistakes in typing here.

I have no clue what you actually have here.

let's look at the 3 situations in the provided answer options, and then you can decide, which applies.

Oa

9 granola bars. each friend gets 1/2 bar.

when we break 1 bar in half, we get 2 halves.

now we break 9 bars in half, so we do this 9 times.

that means we get 9×2 = 18 halves.

so, 18 friends get half a bar.

there would be an equation like

9 / 1/2 = 18

Ob

9 pizzas. I assume each pizza has 8 slices.

so, we have 9×8 = 72 slices.

now we put out of these 72 slices 2 slices per plate.

so, we need 72/2 = 36 plates.

please adapt the calculation and replace 8 by the actual number of slices, if I misunderstood.

the equation here would be something like

9×8/2 = 36

Oc

1/2 box of Britain's is distributed equally to 9 people.

that means we need to divide 1/2 by 9.

1/2 / 9 = 1/2 / 9/1 = 1/2 × 1/9 = 1/18.

remember, when dividing by a fraction it is the same as multiplying with the upside-down fraction.

so, each family member gets 1/18 of the box.

the equation here would be something like above

1/2 / 9 = 1/18
