3 x^(3) -12x

The greatest common factor we can pull out is 3x, leaving us with this:

3x( x^(2) -4)

We can factor further, giving us the answer of:

3x( x+2)(x-2)

You factor by the GCF (Greatest Common Factor). So, the equation would look like this:

3x ( x^2 - 4)

And, that's your answer.
