(x, y) values are: (-4, -12), (-3, -5), (-2, 0), (-1, 3), (0, 4), (1, 3)
Then we can solve for average rates of change as (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1).
For [-4, -2]: (0 - (-12))/(-2 - (-4)) = 6
For [-2, 1]: (3 - 0)/(1 - (-2)) = 1
For [-3, 1]: (3 - (-5))/(1 - (-3)) = 2
For [-4, 0]: (4 - (-12))/(0 - (-4)) = 4
