On the island of Ismarus, after the men have looted and sacked Cicones, Odysseus tells the men that it is time to go. However, the men are so busy enjoying all of their loot, they are in no hurry to go back to sea. They want to relax and revel in their 'treasure'. Because of their choice, they are left open to attack from the reinforcements of Cicones.
