The answer is C.Herbert will be able to see or , in other words ,he will understand what the monkey´s paw really is, when he dies.He will not be coming back and as he meets his doom Herbert will feel the evil revenge for the cruel procedures of the English towards workers in the factories.Herbert does not believe in the paw, however, he sees the monkey´s face in the fire.To me, it is as when someone does not believe in God and has some experience that causes doubts.
