Bee stings are painful and common. It is usually recognized by a sharp pain and a laceration in the skin. The most appropriate nursing action would be; (i) placing a cold compress (a flannel or cloth cooled with cold water) over the affected area to reduce swelling and (ii) application of hydrocortisone cream or calamine lotion to ease redness and itching.
