The first step was the treaty signed by Germany and Italy in October 1936. this treaty with Italy heralded the ultimate treaty that included japan, with Hungary joining later. Hitler was particular fond of Mussolini with whom they cooperated on major areas in the war such as annihilation of the Jews and the Mediterranean war.
