Well it would be nice to put the equation into slope-intercept form by solving the equation for 'y'
2y + 5x = 12 subtract 5x from both sides
2y = -5x + 12 divide both sides by 2

y = - (5)/(2)x+6 Now we see the slope is -(5/2) and the y intercept is 6.
