As the wolf population increases, the need for food will increase, causing the wolves to hunt more hares, making the hare population decrease.

Wolves hunt and kills hares for food. In this relationship wolves are predators and hares are prey. In this food relationship, when the number of predators (wolves) increase, the prey (hares) will decrease ultimately to sustain predator population. As a result of decrease in the prey population, the population of predator will also will naturally decrease in want of food.
