There are twenty amino acids in sixty our codons whereby sixty one code of amino acids and three code for stop codons under a phenomenon which is known as reducndancy.
It is how to measure of tolerating errors in the sequence of nucleotide. The small change in amino acids codons it will not have a lot of effects on protein synthesis reason being the redundancy. A good example is CCA, CCG, CCC, CCU if there is the change in U≥C or A≥G also amino acids will not change at all.
The answer is having more amount of codons than the minimum number of codons. It is error tolerance reason being the expected code which is the redundancy. Not every base pair change which will lead to change the meanings of the codons.
