The United States saw a cultural revolution driven by rapid industrial development and the consequent phenomenon of consumerism. Consumerism began its development and growth throughout the twentieth century as a direct result of the internal logic of capitalism and the emergence of advertising-tools that promote consumption generating new needs in the consumer. Consumerism has developed mainly in the so-called Western world, extending later to other areas.
