There were a lot of important questions to be solved that divided the nation in many ways. For example, this included the Missouri Compromise, the Monroe Doctrine, the Election of 1824, The Adams administration, and the transition from the idea of property to the idea of democracy. Parties gathered around various aspects of these problems and closed themselves to other solutions.
