The answer is South Vietnam. The Republic of South Vietnam (or simply South Vietnam) was the nation that was most threatened by the strategy United States President Richard Nixon chose to the end the Vietnam War. Other countries (such as Thailand and Cambodia) close to Vietnam was also threatened and impacted as well.

The nation that was most threatened by Richard Nixon's strategy to end the Vietnam War was South Vietnam.

Richard Nixon's strategy to end the Vietnam War included the Nixon Doctrine, also known as Vietnamization. The aim of the strategy was to gradually end US involvement in the Vietnam War and in turn train, equip and asign an ever-increasing combat role to the South Vietnamese troops while the number of US troops was reduced. The rushed deployment of Vietnamization left South Vietnam with lack of spare parts for the artillery and armored vehicles, with no maintenance personel, so the equipment was virtually inoperable.

As a consequence of this, casualties of South Vietnamese troops tripled US ones in 1970. Furthermore, in 1970 nearly 70% of the Vietcong were northeners.
