The tibialis anterior muscle dorsiflexes the foot at the ankle and also assists in inversion of the foot. The tibialis anterior is a muscle that originates in the upper two-thirds of the lateral surface of the tibia and inserts into the medical cuneiform and first metatarsal bones of the foot, it acts as dorsiflex and invert the foot.
