The angles below are supplementary. What is the value of x? A pair of supplementary angles is shown. One angle measures 4x + 20, and the other angle measures 40.

Since supplimentary angles equal 180, we would do

180 - 70 = 110

110 - 33 = 77

77 / 7 = 11

Therefore, our answer would be 11, since 11 x 7 = 77, plus our 33 which equals 110, then we add our 70 on the other side and we get 180, the total angle required for a supplimentary angle.

Since supplementary angles are angles that equal to 180, you first need to subtract 40 from 180 to find out what the equation equals. This is the layout of the equation. 140=4x+20. Next you subtract 20 from each side, 120=4x then you divide by 4 four, x=30.
