If you slice it down the dotted line, you will have a rectangle with a width of 2 and a length of 4.

The area of the rectangle will be 8 square centimeters.
2 x 4 = 8

Answer:

The cross section is a rectangle and Area of rectangle is 20 cm².

Explanation:

Given: The right rectangular prism will be sliced perpendicular to its base along the dashed line.

We have to choose the correct from the give options that correctly describe the cross section formed by the slice and the area after slicing.

Consider the given figure then after slicing along the dotted lines we again obtain a rectangle as shown in figure below.

And area of this cross section rectangle is given by

Area of rectangle = l × w

Where l is length ,

w is width

given : Length = 4 cm and width = 5 cm

Area of rectangle = 5 × 4 = 20 cm²

Thus, the cross section is a rectangle and Area of rectangle is 20 cm².
