Answer:
A. The attraction of ions due to the transfer of valence electrons.

Step-by-step explanation:
Ionic Bond is formed due to attraction between Cation and an Anion. The formation of Cation takes place when an atom ( mainly Metal ) looses electron(s). While an Anion is formed when an atom ( mainly Non-Metal) accepts or gain electron(s).

Example:

Na + Cl → Na⁺ + Cl⁻ → NaCl

In Above reaction the valence electron of Sodium (2s¹→2s⁰ + e⁻) is transferred to the Valence Shell of Chlorine (3p⁵ + e⁻ →3p⁶) resulting in the formation of Na⁺ and Cl⁻. These two oppositively charge Ions attract each other and form Ionic Bond.
