The population density is obtained by dividing the population by the area.

Here the population is given as 8.9 millions

1 miilion = 10,00,000

so 8.9 millions = 8.9 ×10,00,000= 8,900,000

The area of the State of New Jersey = 8700 miles².

Hence population density =
(8900000)/(8700) = 1022.98

Rounding it off we get

Population density = 1023 people per square mile.

Option A) is the right answer
