Explanation:

We have std normal distribution curve is that of a random variable with mean =0 and var =1

The line x=0 divides the area into exactly two equal halves

Since -1.645 lies to the left of 0, we have to find the area to the extreme left i.e. between- infinity and-1.645

We know z critical for 90% confidence interval = 1.645

This implies 0.45 area lies between 0 and -1.645

Hence required area = 0.5-0.45 = 0.05

Option C is perfect answer.
