The specific heat capacity of unknown metal is calculated using the following formula

Q=MC delta T where
Q= heat(862 j)
M= mass (17 g)
C= specific heat capacity=?
delta T = change in temperature ( 35-10= 25 c)

by making C the subject of the formula C=Q/m delta T

= 862 j/( 17 g x25 c) = 2.028 j/g/c
