2 pints = 1 quart
8 pints = 1 gallon
4 quarts = 1 gallon

Sarah needs 2 gallons. Sarah has 2 quarts, which is half a gallon. She needs enough pints for 1 1/2 gallons. There are 8 pints in 1 gallon, and if you divide 8 by 4, it is 4, so 8 + 4 = 12.

Sarah will need 12 pint-sized containers.
