The expression for the area of the flag is A = 6x² cm²

Using the parameters given for our Calculation;

  • base = 3x
  • height = 4x

Since the flag has a triangular shape, we use the area formula of triangle for our Calculation;

The formula for the area of a triangle is ;

  • 1/2 × base × height

Substituting our values into the equation

Area = 1/2 * 3x * 4x

Area = 12x²/2

Area = 6x² cm²

The expression for the area is : A = 6x² cm²

To solve this we are going to use the formula for the area of triangle:
A= (1)/(2) bh
where

A is the area of the triangle

b is the base of the triangle

h is the height of our triangle

We can infer from the picture of our triangular flag that the base of the triangle is (3x)cm, so
b=(3x)cm. We can also infer that the height of the triangle is (4x)cm, so
h=(4x)cm. Lets replace the values in our formula:

[tex]A= (1)/(2) bh[/tex]

A= (1)/(2) [(3x)cm][(4x)cm]

A= ((12x^2)cm^2)/(2)

A=(6x^2)cm^2

We can conclude that the expression for the area of our flag is
A=(6x^2)cm^2.
