When a particular wire is vibrating with a frequency of 4.7 hz, a transverse wave of wavelength 71.9 cm is produced. determine the speed of wave pulses along the wire. answer in units of m/s?

The relationship between frequency, wavelength and speed of a wave is given by

v=\lambda f
where
v is the wave speed

\lambda is its wavelength
f is its frequency

for the wave in our problem,
f=4.7 Hz and
\lambda=71.9 cm=0.719 m, so the speed of the wave is (using the previous equation)

v=\lambda f = (0.719 m)(4.7 Hz)=3.38 m/s
