The main reason why the wetland habitats are often favored for transforming to new farmland is that the natural wetlands are flat and often hold deep, nutrient-rich loam with plentiful water availability. In other words, the natural wetlands possess sufficient water supply and soil with rich nutrient etc. which presents a perfect condition for farming. Thus, they prefer converting to new agricultural land.
