The equation x + 2y = 16 is in standard form.
What is the slope of the line?

The slope would be -1/2.

In order to find the slope, you need the equation to say "y =". You would first subtract "x" from both sides. This leaves 2y = -x + 16. To get "y" by itself, you need to divide 2. This gives you "y = -1/2x + 16. Thus making -1/2 the slope.

I hope this helps!

Hello,

x+2y=16\\so\\2y=16-x\\\\y=(16-x)/(2)\\\\y=8-(x)/(2)\\\\{y=-(1)/(2)x+8}\\\\\boxed{\boxed{\text{The slope is : }a=-(1)/(2)}}
