Step 1: Distribute. On the right side, you should get =2x-4
Step 2: Add all common bases. You should get 4x-5 on the left side
Step 3: Add on each side. For example, add five to each side of the equation. Your equation should look like this; 4x= 2x+1
Step 4: Subtract each x number by 2x. Your equation should be; 2x=1
Step 5: Divide each side by two. Your answer should be x=1/2 or x=0.5
