A lobbyist is an individual who tries to convince a politician(s) to create laws or sign bills that will benefit the company/organization they represent. This term supposedly started in the United Kingdom. The term was first used to describe when members of parliament and their peers met in lobbies in order to discuss issues pertaining to British society. This term is still used in American society today.
