Hi there!

To find the x-intercept of the function we need to calculate f(x) = 0.

(x - 4)(x + 2) = 0

Rule AB = 0, gives A = 0 or B = 0.

x - 4 = 0 \: \: \: or \: \: \: x + 2 = 0

Add 4 to both sides or subtract 2 from both sides.

x = 4 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: or \: \: \: x = - 2

Hence, the solutions are:
(4, 0) & (-2, 0)
