A: 10x-4y=20

B: 8x+6y=14

Solve this system of equations using addition. Show all of your work.
Also list the property that you use in each step.

First, use the multiplication property of equality. Multiply the top equation by 3 and the bottom equation by 2.

30x - 12y = 60
16x + 12y = 28

Now, use the addition property of equality. Add the the two equations.

46x = 88 Use the division property of equality. Divide both sides by 46.

x is about 1.91

If you sub that back in for x, you can solve and find the y is about -0.217.
