Both Nigeria and Botswana are located in Africa but only Botswana succeeded in democracy while Nigeria faltered. The main reason for this was that Nigeria had many ethnic groups who all had cultural differences and all were in search for individual power. No group in any means had intentions of becoming allies with others so the whole nation was always divided. Nigeria also has lots of natural resources such as gas and oil so there were many difficulties on how to distribute these sources in a way where everyone would be content. Because of this, the leaders would ultimately become greedy and corrupt. Botswana on the other hand, got its independence in 1966, and right from the beginning the whole nation was unified.
