How did the U.S. motivate so many people to buy war bonds?

They had political cartoons, which was one influence
For example, there was one cartoon with a man and his family and the kids ask, “ Daddy, what did you do during the war?”
Now of course these people were civilians and couldn’t join the war effort, but they could at least buy war bonds.
Hope this helps!
