Joes apple weighs .3 more than martas.

convert Joe's apple to decimal by dividing 4 by 5: 4 / 5 = 0.8 pounds

now subtract to find the difference:
0.8 - 0.5 = 0.3

Joe's apple weighs 0.3 pounds more
