The function f(x) = -(x-1)^2+5 and g(x) = (x+2)^2 - 3 have been rewritten using the completing the square method is the vertex for each function a minimum of maximum?

the vertex for f(x) = -(x-1)^2+5 is a maximum. the parabola opens downward because leading coefficient is negative. so there's some absolute maximum value, kinda when He Man points in the sky and says "heyyeyyeyyeahyeah"

the vertex for g(x) = (x+2)^2 - 3 is a minimum. leading coefficient is positive
