Why is a plasmid useful for dna transfer

1) it has DNA sequence that helps promote plasmid replication

2)has a genetic marker, a gene possible to distinguish bacteria that carry the plasmid from those who don't

Plasmids already contain DNA, plasmids are usually found in prokaryotic cells because they lack a membrane bound nucleus that has DNA, but not enough to support itself. But to answer your question it’s just more convenient for cell division
