Answer:

B) 0.125 mol CuSO4.

Step-by-step explanation:

M =

moles solute

liters solution

and solve for moles solute. moles = M x L Be sure to convert milliliters to liters.

In order to prepare a 250 ml solution of CuSO₄ of 0.5 M we need to calculate the amount of CuSO₄ requires. So, as we know,

Molarity = Moles / Volume of Solution
Also,
Molarity = (Mass ÷ M.mass) / Volume of Solution

Solving for Mass,

Mass = Molarity × M.mass × Volume

Putting Values, ∴ 250 ml = 0.25 dm³

Mass = 0.5 mol.dm⁻³ × 159.6 g.mol⁻¹ × 0.25 dm³

Mass = 19.95 g

Step 2:
Take 19.95 g of CuSO₄, add it to volumetric flask and add distilled water upto the mark of 250 ml. The resulting solution will be of concentration 0.5 M.
