Answer:

Average rate of change of function is -2.

Explanation:

Given
f(x)=(-1)/(4)(x+4)^2-8.

we have to find the average rate of change for the quadratic function from x=−2 to x = 2.

f(-2)=(-1)/(4)(-2+4)^2-8=(-1)/(4)(4)-8=-9

f(2)=(-1)/(4)(2+4)^2-8=(-1)/(4)(36)-8=-17

The average rate of change of the function f(x) on interval [-2,2] is

(f(b)-f(a))/(b-a)=(f(2)-f(-2))/(2-(-2))=(-17-(-9))/(4)=(-8)/(4)=-2
