A basket is filled with 8 white eggs and 10 brown eggs. Half of the white eggs are cracked.

probability ( cracked given it is white egg) =
(P ( cracked- and - white egg) )/(P(white egg))

White eggs = 8

Brown eggs = 10

Total eggs = 18

cracked eggs = half of white eggs = 4

Probability (cracked and white egg) =
(4)/(18)

Probability ( white egg) =
(8)/(18)

probability ( cracked given it is white egg) =
((4)/(18))/((8)/(18))

= (4)/(8) = (1)/(2)

The probability that it is a cracked, white egg is
(1)/(2)
