This question is kind of deceiving, because there was more than just one issue that angered the colonists. But the Stamp Act was a major part in the colonies' quest for independence.

The colonist believed that even though they were in their own "nation", they were still British citizens and had a say in Parliament. However, people from Britain viewed the colonists as those meant to serve the mother country, and did not have the same rights as citizens of the homeland.

Therefore, Britain enacted the Stamp Act, pushing duties (taxes/fees) on newspapers, commercial documents and legal documents. This was done without the consent or vote of the colonists and further proved that they were not citizens of Britain, but rather servants.

(Choice D is most likely a trick. Choices B & C have NOTHING to do with the colonists, so they can be eliminated right away. Then it is a 50/50 choice on A & D, but in this case, A would be the best choice.)
