Hello :)
In 8 years, the father will be 2 times older than the child.
In 8 years, the father will be 40
In 8 years, the child will be 20
40 ÷ 20 = 2
So again, the answer is 8 years :)

I believe it will take 8 years for the father to be 2x older than his son.
To find the answer, you'll need to add 6 to each of the ages so the child would be 20 while the father is 40. So now you'll need to find the quotient of 40 and 20 to get 2, since 40 is just 20+20.
