Answer:

This is a famous quote from Chief Joseph.

Step-by-step explanation:

Chief Joseph was the most famous chief of the Nez Perce Indians. He was born in Wallow Valley, in what is now Oregon.

Nez Perce people lived in harmony with whites and prided themselves on not shedding their blood. That was until 1877, when the army, under the command of General Oliver Howard, forcibly began to remove the Indians from their land, wanting to place them in the Lapwai Reserve. There was a war, which was directly caused by the attack of young warriors. On August 9, 1877, when Colonel John Gibbon attacked Nez Perce at Ruby Creek, 83 Indians were murdered.

After the battle, Chief Joseph tried to get to Canada. Surrounded by the army, he capitulated in Bear's Mountains on October 5. Contrary to promises, the Indians were not sent to Lapwai, but were sent to Kansas to Fort Leavenworth. He finally died in 1904.
