the first step to solving this is to put the 3 in where n is.
(3)² - 5(3) + 2
now we start to solve by evaluating the power
9 - 5 x 3 + 2
next youll multiply -5 by 3
9 - 15 + 2
use both addition and subtraction rules to calculate the expression.

Evaluate:

n² - 5n + 2

(3)² - 5(3) + 2

9 - 15 + 2

-6 + 2

= -4
