The Effective Cooperative Conflict management steps result in a positive outcome, by showing that the donkeys should manage their emotions, manage each other's feedback, manage their goal of getting the pile of food.

The Effective Cooperative Conflict management consists of a series of steps to take when two or more people have a clash or opposing interests that in some way get in the way of the action of the other. These steps consist of the following: 1) manage emotions, 2) manage feedback and 3) manage a goal. In overall, they focus on bringing people involved in the conflict to work together in order to manage their emotions, to consider and understand each other’s ideas and positions and to get to mutually acceptable solutions.

In the example, in order to have a positive outcome, both donkeys can manage their emotions (To settle emotions down so they can leave frustration behind and think clearer), manage feedback (Listen to each other and to impartially consider each other's reasoning for wanting their own pile of food) and to manage goal (To look for a way in which both can benefit from the food).
