The answer is ‘increase…increase’. Rainforests are huge carbon sinks. They take up carbon diode from the atmosphere for their photosynthesis. This regulates the amount of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, in the air and hence reduces global warming. Loss of rainforests causes an increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and this increases the greenhouse effect that is the center of global warming.
