the surface area of the chest would be 32 ft. you can find this by first finding the area of the sides. the area of 4 of the sides would be 6 because 3 (length) times 2 (height) is 6. the other 2 areas would be 4 because 2 (height) times 2 (width) equals 4. this would account for all the sides.
