There are several steps in natural selection. These are:

  • An increase number of population, so that a large number of population can survive to maturity.
  • The species must have some genetic variation in appearance or behavior
  • There must be struggle to survive
  • Then the survived species will reproduce.

The scenario of evolution of peppered moth is an example of natural selection. The frequency of dark colored moth increased which was known as Industrial Melanism. The number of dark colored moth increased showing the theory of natural selection and later when the pollution decreased the number of light colored peppered moth again increased.
