Hello!

You can make two expressions based on what you know

2l + 2w = 52

w = l - 2

You can put w in the first equation

2l + 2(l - 2) = 52

Distribute the 2

2l + 2l - 4 = 52

Combine like terms

4l - 4 = 52

Add 4 to both sides

4l = 56

Divide both sides by 4

l = 14

We can put this into the second equation to get the width

w = 14 - 2

w = 12

The length is 14 and the width is 12

Hope this helps!
