An Indian coast guard was posted at the border of Calicut on the Malabar Coast. He watched for pirate ships and invaders. Suddenly, he saw a strange-looking ship with triangular sails moving toward Calicut. The guard raised the alarm. When the ship arrived, a man with skin paler than ivory stepped off it. The coast guard had never seen such a pale man. The guard brought the man to the king. There, the man said he was from a distant land called Portugal and wanted to trade with India.Based on this passage, we can conclude that the Portuguese man was?

Answer: Vasco da Gama

Explanation: Vasco da Gama was a known Portuguese explorer who discovered and sailed to India from Europe. Gold, spices, and other riches were needed valuables in Europe. But there was a problem, for them to get to Asia they had to navigate through long ways over sea and land to reach them in Asia. this led to them looking for faster routes and one way this was achieved was sailing around Africa to get to Asia this Vasco de gama achieved by being the first man to sail to India.
