HOW DO I FIND THE SLOPE OF A LINE PARALLEL TO EACH GIVEN LINE???

PLS HELP ME I HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING FOR HOURS

-1/2y = -x-1/2

This is the equation of the line you were given. Parallel lines have the same slope. If we can determine the slope of this line, we'll know the slope of a line parallel to this one. If you can rearrange the equation into the form y=mx+b, the m, the number next to the x is the slope we are looking for.

MULTIPLY everything by -1 to get the negative away from the y.

1/2 y = x + 1/2

Divide by 1/2 OR better, multiply by 2 to get that 1/2 away from the y.

(2) 1/2 y = (2)x + (2)(1/2)

y = 2x + 1

This is a more useful form of the equation. The 2 right beside the x is the slope of the line and also any line parallel to this line.
