Why do parents and caregivers sometimes give in to temper tantrums? What message does this send the child? What about other children who witness it?

Parents sometimes give in to temper tantrums because the child can frustrate the parent/caregiver to the point where they want to give in, just so they stop. This message tells the child that if they throw temper tantrums, their parent/caregiver will give them what they want. Other children can possibly receive the same idea from witnessing this.
